Game two of the best seven with Nanaimo Buccaneers leading the series 1-0 that went to overtime two night previous. The first period saw both teams not wanting to give up much space and played a tight knit feeling out period resulting in a goalless first with the Buccaneers out-shooting Westshore 9-8 with both goalies coming up big.
The second period would be the busiest period as Trey Watson open the scoring from a nifty pass from Brendan Rodgers at 6:07 and just 5 seconds later Dawson Heathcote ripped down the ice to get the Nanaimo Buccaneers their second goal to go up 2-0.
Westshore would answer at 9:55 of the second period When BlakeBentham scored their first goal of the game with the assists going to Hunter Gruben and Ethan Brandwood.
Nanaimo would strike again in the middle frame at 17:03 when Nathan Hauser getting the Bucs third goal but the Westshore Wolves we’re not done yet. Just 20 seconds later Dylan Parsons scores with the helper going to Andy Westhaver with the second ending at 3-2 Bucs.
The third period was a tgh checking with some heavy hits and nice defensive plays that resulted in some hard fought battles. Nanaimo Looked like they were to the win when AP Ethan Brandwood rips a shot past Bucs goalie with just 8 seconds left in the game.
This game would take double overtime to decide the winner and at 17:31, Bucs Darian Harris would break into the zone with Dylan Devers where Devers would put the perfect pass on Harris’s stick for a beauty backhand to the top corner over Wolves tender Jordan Spandli for the win.
Westshore Wolves goalie Jordan spandli made 27 saves in the loss and for Nanaimo Blake Wood stood tall making 39 of 42 for the win!
Game three is Sunday, March 3 at the Q centre 6 PM.
