May 12, 2019. Langford, BC. (ISN) – After a disappointing loss to Australia in their third game of day one pool play, Canada will look to regroup Sunday morning against the United States in Cup quarter final action with hopes of finishing in the top four.
Canada started out opening day with confidence. Using their senior, experienced players sparingly, Canada would have no trouble dispatching Brazil 38-7 and Ireland 22-5. Canada, knowingly, would meet their toughest opponent of the day in the Australia side, calling on tier senior players to action but the effort would not be enough much in part to the speedy Aussie Ellia Green, who would score two second half tries with her blazing sideline speed to turn aside a Canadian comeback.
Canada will look to fair better on Day Two with hopes of securing a automatic spot in t he 2020 Olympics with a favourable top spot in the tournament.
