Todd Haney is ready for his first season at the helm of the Victoria HarbourCats, and he’ll do so with a seasoned coaching staff.
Haney, who played for the Expos, Mets and Cubs in his Major League Baseball career, will look to experienced help in all areas — people who have been exposed to the rigors of the West Coast League.
Named to the coaching staff for 2019:
CURTIS PELLETIER — Hitting Coach, Director of Player Development
Pelletier, a former college and pro player from Victoria, is in his second season now with the HarbourCats and has been a major addition to the year-round efforts. Pelletier moves from Bullpen Coach to Hitting Coach, and will work with the team’s catchers.
TROY BIRTWISTLE — First Base Coach
Former college and pro pitcher/player from Shawnigan Lake, returns for his third season, a veteran presence and an intense leader. Also significantly helps the club with ballpark projects, owner of TRB Construction.
IAN SANDERSON — Pitching Coach
Entering his second season in Victoria, Sanderson is the Pitching Coach at Lower Columbia College of the NWAC. A detail-oriented pitching coach focused on development within competition.
JASON LEONE — Third Base Coach
Former college player returning for his third summer in Victoria, has coaching experience at numerous colleges.
JOHN SCHNADERBECK — Outfield Coach
A former college player and pro in Colorado’s system, joins the team from his Portland-area home for many road series, acting as another resource for Coach Haney.
