Camosun College congratulates fifth-year Chargers golfer, Tyler Robertson, who won his first PACWEST Men’s Individual title, while leading the college to a second victory of the season at the Camosun Open at Highland Pacific, Sept. 21-22!
Tyler earned both a Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Athlete of the Week award for his stellar performance.
“A big Camosun shout out to Tyler and everyone on the Chargers golf team for an exciting tournament,” says Sherri Bell, President of Camosun College. “Our Chargers athletes represent the community spirit of the college, whether in the classroom or on the greens. I wish all of our golfers every success in the remaining couple of weeks. The college is cheering you on!”
Tyler shot a two-day total of 145, which included the tournament low of 70 on Day Two. In team play, the Chargers made the most of their home-course advantage, winning the event nine-strokes ahead of the pack.
“It’s great to be part of a team that goes out and gives it their all,” says Robertson, who will complete his Accounting degree this spring. “It’s my last year at Camosun, so my goal is make it to Nationals and bring home a banner before I graduate.”
With only two competitive weeks of golf remaining in season – the PACWEST Provincials and CCAA Nationals – Tyler is already reminiscing about his time with the Chargers.
“Everyone here at Camosun has been so great,” he adds. “I say this every year, but my favorite thing about being a Charger is that it’s a family. They bring you in and treat you with respect and they expect the same from you.”
This week, the Chargers travel to the Mainland for the 2019 PACWEST Provincial Championships, hosted by Douglas College at the University Golf Club in Vancouver, Sept. 27-29. Having won the first two PACWEST tournaments, Camosun heads in as the championship favorites.
