Contract Extension: Prior to tonight’s game, Royals’ head coach Dan Price agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the club. Since taking over as the Royals head coach in 2017-18, Price has recorded a 90-67-8-4 regular season record.

 

First Goal: Spokane forward Leif Mattson recorded his first goal as a member of the Chiefs in tonight’s game. Mattson was acquired from the Kelowna Rockets on December 5th.

2020 World Juniors: Chief’s goalie Lukas Parik (Czech Republic) and defenceman Ty Smith (Canada) were invited to their country’s selection camps for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championship.  Smith has been named to Canada’s National Junior Team, while the Cech Republic is yet to announce their final roster.

WHL Debut: Chiefs’ forward Ben Thornton made his WHL debut against the Royals tonight. Thornton was selected 15th overall in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft out of Yale Hockey Academy.
