The Victoria Royals earned a 2-1 victory over the Portland Winterhawks as newly acquired Brayden Tracey scored the overtime winner and Shane Farkas stopped 42 of the 43 shots he faced.

Victoria netminder Shane Farkas played against his former team for the first time since being traded to the Royals on May 2, 2019. Farkas played for Portland from 2016-19. Over those three seasons, he earned a 47-24-3-4 record, a 2.96 goals against average, a 0.902 save percentage and seven shutouts.

But not to be outdone,Royals newly acquired forward Brayden Tracey scored in his debut contest with the club tonight, the OT winner to boot. The last Royal to score in his debut  was Brandon Cutler on September 21, 2018 against the Prince George Cougars.

If that wasn’t enough,the Royals also ended Portland’s win streak at six games.

The Winterhawks were last defeated on December 15th, in a shootout, against the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Before the game Royals fans being Proud Canadian Hockey Fans, gave Winterhawks’ goaltender Joel Hofer a Standing “O” before the game on his return after winning gold with Team Canada at the 2020 World Junior Championships.

Royals will conclude their two-game set against the Portland Winterhawks tonight. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
