The shortened 2021-22 Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) season has flown by, leaving players and fans with just a pair of remaining home volleyball games this weekend with a couple special presentations on Friday.

 

That evening (Jan. 28), the Chargers will recognize two fifth-year volleyball student-athletes, Vitor Pereira and Morgan Humphries, and fourth-year graduate Dale MacConnell, with a special presentation between the women’s and men’s games. The men’s volleyball head coach, Charles Parkinson will also be recognized for his 14 years of dedication to the program.

 

The 6’5” Brazil native, Pereira (Isabela Hendrix), joined the Chargers in the 2018-19 season in his third year of eligibility from Medicine Hat College. Currently finishing his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), the left/right side has earned numerous Chargers and PACWEST, recognition over his three years at Camosun.

Fourth year MacDonnell (Pacific Christian Secondary School) is wrapping up his fourth year with the Chargers and will be graduating at the end of the academic year with a Bachelor of Business Administration. The 6’6” middle from Victoria was named the 2017-18 Chargers Rookie of the Year and received the Chargers Leadership Award for his contributions in the 2019-20 season.

 

Humphries, a Victoria native and Reynolds Secondary graduate, spent all five seasons of eligibility with the Chargers men’s volleyball squad. The 6’4” right side is finishing his studies this semester in Sports Management.

 

Vitor, Morgan, and Dale were all part of the 2018-19 PACWEST Silver medal team.

 

As the winningest coach in Camosun Chargers history, Parkinson led the men’s volleyball team to six PACWEST Championships and one CCAA National title over his time with the Chargers. He has also added two silver and one bronze PACWEST Championships and a CCAA National bronze medal. Charles is the most decorated men’s volleyball coach in PACWEST history.

The Chargers volleyball teams match up against the Columbia Bible College Bearcats at 6pm (women) and 8pm on Friday, January 28, 2022, then are back in action on Saturday, January 29, 2022 (W1pm, M3pm). Fans will have the chance to win a variety of Chargers-branded prizes during the weekend matchups.
