March 5, 2022 Victoria, BC (ISN) – It was a great day for fans to be on the rugby pitch Saturday at Windsor Park, but that enjoyment came at the expense of the UVic Vikes Men’s Premier Division Rugby team as they would be dumped 45-15 by the host Castaway Wanderers at Windsor Park in BC Rugby Premier Division action.
The Gerwing Shield, first played in 2019 prior to Covid restrictions, would be originally claimed by UVic with a 43-21 victory, only for it to return home in 2022 as the Castaway Wanderers would thump the Vikes.
Despite some of the islands best players missing from both line ups, it was an entertaining afternoon of rugby for Vikes and CW fans alike. Between the Div one and Premier match up, fans were treated to a display of Mini Rugby.
