April 30, 2022 Langford, BC ( ISN ) – The Canadian Women’s Sevens team advance to 2-0 in day one pool play with a 43-0 route over Mexico at the Langford Sevens at Starlight Stadium in Langford, BC.
Canada would score seven tries to blank the Mexican side with Fancy Bermudez Chavez and Krissy Scurfield and Bianca Farella all scoring in the first half to set the precedent. Canada would be relentless on the ball, forcing turnovers for their advantage in the second half scoring another four tries in the win.
Krissy Scurfield would score here second try of the game, along with teammates Renee Gonzales, Elissa Alarie and Florence Symonds contributing a try each. Olivia Apps (3) and Asia Hogan-Rochester (1) would be true to the boot with four converts on the seven tries scored.
Canada will finish pool play against top seeded Australia iat 6pm PST in a match that will be a true test for the red and white. With two only one final tournament remaining, Australia is the run-away favourite to be crowned the 2022 HSBC World Rugby Sevens champions.
