Former Victoria Eagle and Cal State Fullerton Titans pitcher Fynn Chester tossed a complete game three hitter in a 3-0 victory as the Titans defeated Big West Conference rival Long Beach State Dirtbags on May 22.  Chester gave up two hits in the first inning, the second an infield single, and then sat down 23 consecutive Dirtbag batters! Fynn forced the Long State hitters to earn their way on the basepaths, handing out zero free passes. In the bottom of the ninth, the Dirtbags eked out their third single, but Fynn induced a ground ball double play to end the game.

An incredible 21 of the game’s 27 putouts were made by Titan infielders. After the game the Victoria right hander attributed his success to his Titan teammates, “The real story today was the team defense which made a lot of big plays to keep me in the game.”

Fynn Chester has had three starts since moving into the Titan’s starting rotation and is 2-1 on the year with an impressive 2.47 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. The Victoria native has allowed just two runs in 17 innings pitched.
