The Shamrocks are pleased to announce the addition of Jesse and Marshal King to the 2022 roster.
The King brothers were born and raised in Victoria, going through the Juan De Fuca lacrosse association before becoming Shamrocks for their junior careers.
Jesse has been a notable member of the Shamrocks since 2014, and his younger brother Marshal followed suit as he enters his second season as a Senior “A” Rock. The brothers both set up on the offensive side of the ball where their size and lacrosse IQ set them apart from the rest.
“The King brothers are going to give WLA defenses and goaltenders nightmares,” General Manager Chris Welch said. “Jesse has been at the top of his game for a while now and Marshal is just starting to get there. I’m really excited to see what they can do, it’s going to be fun to watch.”
The two are not only teammates at home, but also in the NLL for the Calgary Rougnecks. Jesse helped lead the Roughnecks to an NLL cup in 2019, and this past season totalled 97 points in 18 games. Marshal’s NLL career is just getting started, as he went 22nd overall in the 2019 draft.
The brothers not only add size, strength and skill to the offense, but also a brotherly connection that will be tough for opponents to defend against.
“I am always excited to put on the green and white and represent my hometown,” Jesse King said. “These past few years have been extra special being able to do it with my little brother. We both grew up watching the Shamrocks, and now our dreams have come true being able to suit up together on this team. He’s an inspiration to me and is a huge reason I push myself so hard. I am extremely excited to be back in Victoria this summer with him and the rest of our team.”
