As most of their games go the Nanaimo Clipper and the Cowichan Valley Capitals battled down to the wire in a tough fast paced game Friday night in Nanaimo.
Backstopped by Landon Pavlisin,Nanaimo goalie stood on his head stopping all 16 shots he faced in the opening frame. Not to be outdone by any means ,Capitals starter Pierce Diamond kicked away all 8 shots he faced in this battle of the tenders.
Nanaimo scored the first goal on an early second period power play on a point shot by Carter Stephenson. But the Capitals responded with a tally from the right face off circle by Niko Selivanov.
Nanaimo takes this one 2-1 with the rematch going tonight at the Big Stick in Duncan
The shots finished 43-24 for Cowichan Valley with the Clippers going 2/6 on the man advantage and 7/7 on the penalty kill.
