The Victoria Shamrocks are adding two elite-tier defenders to the back end, in 6’ 2” lefty Graeme Hossack, and 6’ 0” lefty Adrian Sorichetti.
Hossack, the 2017-18 NLL Defender of the Year and 1st Team All-Pro, is originally from Port Perry, Ontario; known for using his speed and agility to consistently be in the right place at the right time, he is the type of player to not only get the ball out of your stick, but then to pick it up and transition it handily to the attacking zone to set up his squad for a goal.
The numbers back him up – in four seasons with the Rochester Knighthawks of the NLL, he has only had one season with fewer than 100 loose ball pickups, with 91 in 2016 and 164 in 2019.
Sorichetti, a three-time NLL Champions’ Cup winner with the Saskatchewan Rush moved to the San Diego Seals in this year’s NLL expansion draft. Originally from Whitby, Ontario, Sorichetti gained everyone’s attention as a transition player, but has earned a reputation as a well-rounded defender.
“Obviously we’re thrilled to add two elite players who will have a major impact,” said General Manager Chris Welch. “Graeme is arguably the top defender in the world, and Adrian is a proven winner at every level. One of our priorities going into 2019 was to beef up our back end and these two guys fit that bill in a big way.”
