BC Hockey announced the Male U16 Team BC staff that will compete at the 2019 Western Hockey League (WHL) Cup.

The team staff are:

“We have every confidence that these individuals will lead Team BC to a successful showing at the WHL Cup,” commented BC Hockey Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Barry Petrachenko. “Scott, Rylan, Jamie and Leland provide our players with a terrific mix of hockey knowledge, enthusiasm and experience.”

Burt just wrapped up his sixth season with the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Spokane Chiefs.  Prior to coaching, he played professional hockey for 13 seasons (739 games), mainly for the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.  Burt and the Steelheads reached the finals six (6) times and captured the ECHL Kelly Cup Championship three (3) times.

Ferster spent seven (7) seasons with the BC Hockey League (BCHL) West Kelowna Warriors where he guided the team to six (6) straight postseason berths, as well as the club’s first Interior Division Championship, Fred Page Cup, Western Canada Cup and RBC National Championship in 2016.  Ferster has coached at the international level as head coach of Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge.

Jackson has been coaching Junior A, Junior B and Major Midget for over a decade and is currently the assistant coach of the BCHL Coquitlam Express.  He spent five (5) seasons as head coach of the Major Midget League (MML) Vancouver North East Chiefs, leading them to victory at the 2015 MML Championship.  Jackson has been part of the BC Hockey Program of Excellence (POE) and the Hockey Canada U17 POE on several occasions.

Mack’s coaching resume spans over several teams and Associations over the past 15 years, starting with the Burnaby Minor Hockey Association.  He then coached the MML Vancouver North West Giants (now Vancouver North West Hawks) and Vancouver Canadians (now Greater Vancouver Canadians) for six (6) seasons combined.  Mack joined the coaching staff at Burnaby Winter Club in 2013, where he is currently head coach for the Bantam Prep team.  He has been part of the BC Hockey POE for over 10 years in various roles, including both U16 and U17.
