September 25, 2019 Victoria, BC (ISN) – After dropping their first three exhibition games of 2019 BC High School Football preseason, unable to find their scoring touch, the JV Belmont Bulldogs returned to the score sheet in a big way with a 42-0 win over the Nanaimo District Islanders at Goudy Field Wednesday afternoon.
Unable to mark the score sheet in their first three games, the Bulldogs righted their ship on the way to their first win to improve to 1-3, and just in time for their first regular season contest against Handsworth of Vancouver on October 3rd. For the Islanders, also looking for their first win of the preseason, dropped to 0-3 with the regular season on their door step.
Belmont’s defensive core would make a first half statement with two fumble recoveries and a pair of interceptions, one of those interceptions run back for the pick six. Along with a strong running offense, the Bulldogs would run up a 28-point first half performance on their way to shutting out the Nanaimo Islanders and chalking up their first win of the 2019 preseason.
The 3-A Coastal Division Bulldogs start their regular season bid October 3rdversus a tough North Vancouver Handsworth squad.
