Second year defenceman, Robby Drazner is the 9th player on the 2019-2020 Nanaimo Clippers team to receive an NCAA Division 1 commitment. The commitment is for the 2021-2022 season so the Clippers are excited to have him back for another season next year when he is likely to be one of the elite defencemen in the league.

The coaching staff discovered Drazner 2 years ago at the US U18 Nationals while he was playing with Chicago Mission. He was an unproven commodity at the time but quickly moved up to a top 6 role on a veteran defence core during the 2018-2019 season. He ended the season 3rd on the team in terms of defencemen scoring with 20 points in 57 games. This year, Drazner’s offensive production is 25 points in 46 games which places him 2nd behind Devon Mussio for defencemen scoring on the team and in the top 20 in the BCHL for defenceman scoring.

Darren Naylor, Vice President and Head Coach of the Clippers noted, “Robby worked extremely hard in the off season and has developed into a legitimate top pairing defenceman in the BCHL. He is one of the top defencemen in the BCHL now. He is so important to our program, playing on the top pairing, playing the power play and killing penalties.  He is also a great teammate and well liked by his peers.”

Drazner comments, “I decided to commit to Miami University because it will allow me to play under a great coaching staff as well as I will be able to get an outstanding education. When I took my visit, I was extremely impressed with the facilities and the campus as a whole. It’s somewhere I want to spend my college career at.”
