The Prince George Spruce Kings have made a trio of trades, acquiring F Austin Fraser (’03), D Brody Gagno (’02), and F Ty Gagno (’03).
First, the Spruce Kings traded F Austin Spiridakis (’02) to the Nanaimo Clippers in exchange for F Jaeger Murdock (04).

The Spruce Kings then packaged Murdock, F Carter Cochrane (’02), and the BC Hockey League list rights of G Jesse Makaj (’01) to the Coquitlam Express in exchange for Austin Fraser and F Andrej Kovacevic (’04).

Fraser, from West Vancouver BC, finished the 2021 pod season with four goals and six assists with the Express in 20 games played. The 6’2 202 pound forward affiliated with the Express in the 2019-20 season, where he suited up in eight games and had one goal. Prior to the BCHL, Fraser was a member of the Vancouver NW Hawks of the BC Major Midget League.

“Austin is a player who plays the game hard and plays the right way. His work ethic and compete level will allow him to fit in well with our team.” – GM Mike Hawes

Lastly, the Spruce Kings then flipped the rights of Kovacevic and future considerations to the Chilliwack Chiefs in exchange for Brody Gagno and Ty Gagno. Brody Gagno, from South Surrey BC, has been a member of the Chilliwack CHiefs for the past two seasons. The Quinnipiac University commit has 106 games of BCHL experience and also has 14 points in those games. Gagno was also an assistant captain for the Chiefs in the 19-20 season. The right-handed shot and 18-year-old defenceman also has played in 18 BCHL playoff games.

“Brody is a veteran player who will be a big minute d-man for us. He competes hard and is difficult for opposing players to play against. We’re excited to assist Brody with this development as he prepares for college hockey.” – GM Mike Hawes

Brody’s younger brother Ty has just played one game in the BCHL also with the Chiefs. The 6’1 forward from Langley spent the 2019-20 season with the Burnaby Winter Club of the Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL), where Gagno had five goals and 12 assists in just 23 games played.

“Ty is a very good young player who projects to be a dynamic player for us as he develops. It’s
always good when you can add a young player like Ty to the group”. – GM Mike Hawes

The Spruce Kings are thrilled to welcome Austin Fraser, Brody Gagno, Ty Gagno, and all of their families to the organization and to the city of Prince George.
