The Penticton Vees Hockey Club is pleased to announce goaltender Kaeden Lane (’01) has committed to the University of Northern Michigan for the 2022/23 season.
Lane, 19, just completed his first season in Penticton and put up excellent numbers in his opening season with the team. Lane was named Most Valuable Player and the Top Goaltender in the Penticton Pod over the course of the Vees 18-1-0-1 record throughout the 2021 season. The 5’11”, 170-pound goaltender suited up for 16 games in the 2021 abbreviated campaign, allowing just 18 goals against and posting a BC Hockey League best 15-1-0 record along with a 1.13 goals against average and a .951 save percentage.
The Burnaby, BC native also held the league lead in shutouts with 5 over the course of the season, a number that is good for being tied for 7th in BCHL history in that department. Lane finished the season on an impressive run, winning his last 10 starts of the year while collecting three shutouts and allowing one goal five separate times in that span.
The Vees have seen a number of their alumni join the Wildcats program, led by head coach Grant Potulny, who enters sixth season at Northern Michigan. The Wildcats play out of Marquette, Michigan at the Berry Events Center and are in the newly formed Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) which features 8 teams. Lane will join former Vee Andre Ghantous and 12 other BCHLers slated for the roster in the next two seasons.
