Day one is in the books as pool play is complete on the boys side of the 2019 BC Secondary School Volleyball Provincial Championships at Langley Events Centre.

AA Boys

Pool A saw plenty of movement as no team exited the first day with their same ranking.

The MEI Eagles went 3-0, dropping just one set along the way in the top pool, to earn the top seed heading into the Championship Draw.

The George Elliot Coyotes went from fourth to second while No. 1 Langley Christian Lightning fell to third and the Abbotsford Christian Knights dropped one spot from third to fourth.

Pool B also saw the Pacific Christian Pacers jump from third to first in the pool while the College Heights Cougars fell from first to third. The Pacific Academy Breakers and Langley Fundamental Titans maintained their second and fourth place spots, respectively.

The Surrey Christian Falcons were a perfect 3-0 and they did not concede a single set to earn top spot in Pool C. The Duchess Park Condors finished second, the St. Michaels University School Blue Jags were third and the Hugh McRoberts Strikers fourth.

And in Pool D, the Sir Charles Tupper Tigers were the lone top seed in their pool to emerge in first place. The WL Seaton Sonics are second, the Alpha Aztecs third and the Prince Charles Bulldogs fourth.

All 16 teams now begin play in the Championship Draw with the round of 16 getting underway at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

AAA Boys

The top-ranked Earl Marriott Mariners dropped just a single set as they captured top spot in Pool E on Wednesday at Langley Events Centre.

The Mariners were pushed to the limit against the Claremont Spartans in their power-pool game on Wednesday at Langley Events Centre, but eked out a 16-14 win to take the match 2-1 (21-25,25-19,16-14) to maintain their No. 1 ranking heading into the Championship Draw.

Claremont takes second in Pool E with the Kelowna Owls third and Oak Bay Barbers fourth.

All four teams advance directly to the round of 16 on Thursday.

The Okanagan Mission Huskies captured first place in Pool F followed by the Eric Hamber Griffins, Argyle

Pool G was the lone pool among both tiers to see the teams finish in the same position they began the tournament in with the Yale Lions placing first, the Mount Boucherie Bears second, the Fleetwood Park Dragons third and the Steveston-London Sharks fourth.

 

The Seaquam Seahawks claimed first place in Pool H with the Burnaby Central Wildcats, Semiahmoo Totems and Fraser Heights FireHawks finishing second to fourth.

In Pool K, the Delta Pacers went a perfect 3-0 to win their pool with the Reynolds Roadrunners taking second and the Penticton Lakers third. The Mount Baker Wild finished fourth in the pool.
