A pair of UBC legends are set to become the conference’s winningest coaches. Kevin Hanson and Deb Huband are both closing in on history atop the men’s and women’s basketball record books respectively.
Hanson enters tonight’s matchup with Trinity Western (7 p.m. PST) tied with former Alberta head coach Don Horwood for the most conference men’s basketball wins with 313.
Meanwhile, Huband can set the women’s mark Saturday night (5 p.m. PST) against TWU. She enters the weekend one win back of ex-Victoria Vikes head coach Kathy Shields, who posted 337 career CW victories.
The coaching duo have a combined 45 years of head coaching experience at UBC, with Huband in her 25th season, while Hanson is in his 20th.
