For the second straight game the Blues got past the Chargers in the lone PACWEST women’s basketball game on Saturday. The Blues used an 18-8 second quarter to pull ahead of the Chargers and never really looked back. They shot 41.5% from the field with four players reaching double-digits. Sherrie Errico had her best game since returning to the line-up with 18 points to lead all scorers. Kate Mallette came off the bench to drop 17 and Mackenzie Smith scored 13 and grabbed eight boards. The win ties the Blues with the VIU Mariners for the top spot in the standings with 22 points, however the Mariners have two games in hand.

The Chargers played well but couldn’t dig themselves out of a second quarter hole. The shot 37% from the field overall and Jasmine de Vries led the way with 16 points. Chloe Scaber came off the bench for 15 points.

Next week the Blues (11-3) have a bye while the Chargers (6-6) host the Okanagan Coyotes (3-10).
