The Victoria Cougars came out victorious against the Oceanside Generals, winning 3-2 on Thursday night. Before the game, the Cougars held a ceremony for truth and reconciliation day where they featured a few elders from the Songhees First Nations, Beecher Bay First Nation, and the Ahoushat First Nation. The First period was dominated by Oceanside outshooting the Cougars 15-2. The Generals opened the scoring with a goal from Carter Johnson (5) with assists from Evan Dyce and Brayden Ross.Photo by Nathanael LaranjeirasThe Cougars stepped on the peddle in the second period scoring two goals. The first of the two goals scored was by Kieran Strange (5), who was assisted by Jackson Estey and Ryan Comisky. The second goal that would give the Cougars the lead was from Ryder Johns (2), assisted by Jacob Pang and Aiden Beavan.Photo by Nathanael LaranjeirasOceanside went on to even the score in the third period as Carter Johnson (6) scored his second goal of the night, assisted by Brendan Carlson. It wasn’t long after that the Cougars would regain the lead when Owen Evers (3) scored the game-winning goal, assisted by Jacob Batson and Kenneth Boychuck. The game ended with the Cougars improving their record to 5W-2L-0OTL, whereas the Generals added to their record of 4W-1L-2OTL.
