In a game that was highly anticipated as it featured the top two teams in the league facing off for the top of the league. Pacific FC went into the game holding the first-place spot in the league with York only a couple of points behind them. A win would keep Pacific in first with a five-point cushion, on the other hand, a loss would prompt York into first with only a one-point difference from Pacific FC.
The first half began with York having several counterattacks with no success. Which soon flipped to Pacific as they looked to succeed in their counterattacks. Pacific applied the pressure nearly scoring after Ayman Sellouf drilled the ball into the corner only for York’s goalkeeper Niko Giantsopoulos to make an incredible stretch save. York got close as well nailing the crossbar and post which would be their closest opportunity in the half.

Pacific started the second half with a heavy foot pressing to get the opening goal. The game became quite physical in the second half with multiple yellow cards being handed out and tempers flaring. Pacific brought in a few subs with Daniels, Heard, Ongaro, and Manneh in search of the game-winning goal and switching their formation to have two strikers up front. Their changes proved successful, as Pacific found success from a corner kick in the 88th minute that found Sean Young in front of the net and headed the ball home, sending the Starlight Stadium crowd onto their feet.
