September 8, 2019 Victoria, BC (ISN) – Fall, youth football is in the air, and the Victoria Spartans started week one of the Vancouver Island Football Conference running. chalking up a tie and a convincing win in PeeWee and Junior Bantam football action Saturday at Copley Field in Saanich.
The PeeWee Spartans would pull out a 6-6 tie against the Victoria Renegades with only four minutes remaining, in a hotly contested defensive battle that could have turned a result in either direction.
A veteran Junior Bantam Spartans team dominated a freshman Victoria Renegades 48-0 in a one-sided affair that would see the high-powered offence of the Spartans be the first team to put their mark in the win column for the 2019 fall season.
Next weekend will see the Spartans travel to Forrest Field in Ladysmith to take on the Ladysmith Steelers, while the Victoria Renegades match up against the Westshore Warriors at Goudy Field in Langford, BC.
