May 5th, 2024   Langford, BC (ISN) – Saturday, the Westshore Warriors Football Association hosted a trifecta of minor football contests against Nanaimo Football’s Atom Division Beastmode, and the PeeWee and Junior Bantam Oceanside Lions of Parksville / Qualicum in week 5 Vancouver Island Canadian Football Association season.

Despite an entertaining and hard-fought game that saw a seesaw score in the fourth quarter, the Atom Warriors would fall 32-36 on a late Beastmode touchdown to lift the Nanaimo team to a victory.  For the Warriors, it was the first loss of the season (4-1), while the Beastmode would elevate to a 2-2 record.

For the PeeWee Warriors, still looking for their first win of the season, it was not their afternoon. The Oceanside Lions, now 3-1 in week 5, would have their way with the host Warriors, taking the win in dominant fashion on both sides of the ball to post a 48-0 shut out.

The Junior Bantam Warriors, undefeated in the season, would avenge the earlier losses of their younger brethren teams, posting a 32-14 win over the 6th place Lions. The Lions would visit the endzone once in the first half, and score late in the second frame to show some positive play against a very strong Warrior team. The home team Warriors sit alone in the standings at 5-0 with the cross-town rival Saanich Wolverines nipping at their heals, also undefeated at 4-0 after their up-island win with a game in hand.

Well played, all teams!!
