February 6th, 2021 Victoria, BC (ISN) – The rain ceased, the clouds opened up to let the sun through, and for the Vancouver Island South Football Academy it was another bright, almost spring-type day of football as a few dozen football youth from the Greater Victoria and Cowichan Valley area took to Belmont Highschool’s field in their fifth of eight meetings to sharpen their talents with skills and drills training.
On January 4th, 20121, the BC Provincial Football Association announced the launch of a regional academy and development centre program to support the growth and development of football through British Columbia.
The program provides local training opportunities for athletes wishing to be selected to Team BC, support the training and education of community coaches, and provide development assistance to local clubs and stakeholders.
Vancouver Island was divided into two zones, creating a North and South Vancouver Island Academy.
ISN photographer Erich Eichhorn was on hand Saturday morning to bring you a glimpse at some of the onfield action from some of the hardest working high school and community football players on the southern island.
